New Chapter in Life...

27 Feb 09 - Went to work with SayGee, once I reached office I checked my emails for reply to my farewell emails.  After that I got Prudential to fax me my total premium paid so that I can make my last reimbursement on my FLEX credits. After that I started my journey to do my clearance as well as going to the commanders' office to bid farewell to them. DyFC, FC, F1, F3, F4 as well as friends. I walk to the new pass office and returned my pass and car label and walked over to SAF Yacht Club to sign my letter of offer.  Clara, the senior HR officer, explained to me in detail before I signed.  I also asked a few questions pertaining to the job scope and admin issue such as lunch and scheduling.

After that I went back to office and complete my clearance and collect my Pink NRIC. I felt happy when I held my NRIC and put it into my wallet.  It was then that I realised that I had made the right decision to leave and I will need this attitude and mindset to continue to move forward in this new chapter of my life.  On to a new career and on to a new opportunities, new challenges of life. Packed my stuff and joined in for the office reflection session.  After the session, SayGee send me home.

I took a nap and woke up at 1845H.  Quickly took a shower and rush out of the house, it's my farewell dinner...

Guess which restaurant am I going to?
Most of them had already arrived and we took our order and while waiting for the main dish to be served, we helped ourselves to the finger food and chatted.

It wasn't a long wait before the main dishes were served...

After everyone had finished our dinner, it's time to show our appreciation to the person leaving, Darren and myself.
The standard SAF appreciation of service plaque... ...and from the FOB team...

Other than the standard SAF plaque, the rest of the gift touches my heart deeply. I think pictures paint a thousand words...

Two bottles of premium red wine from F3, LTC Thng CheeMeng. I am so touch and felt appreciated when he explained why he chose premium wine as my gift...
And from the rest of them...

A personalised pack of Marlboro Menthol...

My name is printed on it...

After the dinner, we continued with the drinking and I spend some time talking to Andrew... After that I send SayGee home and went to watch Pris played mahjong in Stella's Punggol House haha... After the game, I walked home as it was only a few blocks away...

After reading and learning from School of Pipsology, following what I had learned, I shall now develop my trading system.

Time Frame: 1 Hour time frame shall be my main trading time frame.

Identifying Indicator: Bollinger Band (BB) shall help me to identify the trend impulse.

Confirmation Indicator: Stochastic shall help me to confirm that the direction of the movement is firm.

Risk: I shall not risk more than 2% of my account balance on every trade.

Entry & Exit: When price retrace from the upper or lower band, that will be my entry point. Exit point will be set at the middle band.

FOREX end-of-week summary 16-20 Feb 09

After attending School of Pipsology, I learnt and gain much insight and knowledge as well as the proper application of each and every indicators available. I had increase the number of tools available for use in my trading toolbox. I have yet to start on my 10th grade lesson, but the result after 9th grade is shown above. Nevertheless, a word of caution to all traders, its not about you knowing and understanding the how of applying each indicators but the identifying of the correct and right point required by each indicators. And this, will need years of experience...

Day Trip to Batu Pahat 15 Feb 09

Decided sometime back during one of their meet up, which I did not turn up. In any case, I was asked to join them, hence took a ride on Terence's (euroken) wish to the meeting place at Woodlands Point in the morning.  After all had arrived, a total of 9 wish, we proceed to cross the customs and head for our breakfast.

Saw this old mailbox by the roadside... ;p

After our breakfast, we continued with our journey to Batu Pahat.  Before we move off, directions were given and arrangement was made to wait for all to arrive before exit the highways. It was about an hour drive to Air Hitam (hope I got the spelling correct) non-stop...

After all members and their families arrived at the exit, we proceed to the toll plaza and stop for pee break...

After approximately another hour drive to enter the town of Batu Pahat. The hammer, nail and rock were the symbols, or icon of Batu Pahat... wonder who I heard it from and what's the history behind this town, anyone?

We took a wrong turn in the town and were going in circles, thankfully we were equipped with walkie talkie which was used to communicate with each other without having to stop our vehicle.  Eventually we found our way out of the town and went on our way to the star destination of this trip. It was the  大伯公 temple, somewhat similar to the one we had in Loyang, Singapore.  It was only after many spiral turns and some uphill ride that we finally arrived at the temple.

The temple was just by the coast and there were many kelong nearby.  The temple was also very hugh, much bigger than the one we had in Loyang.

After our offering and touching of the fish, we proceed for our lunch nearby. It was already 130pm and most of us were already hungry...

After lunch, we went on our separate ways, some went to Muay while others proceed back to Johor Bahru for shopping.  There were also some that proceed back to Singapore. It was an enjoyable get together trip!

Unsatisfactory ER application

It's been awhile since I take the effort and update about myself. Presently, I am clearing my leave before leaving service (Navy). My last day supposedly on 28 Feb 09, last working day 27 Feb 09. It's already mid Feb, why is it still supposedly shouldn't it be more firm? Precisely, thats what I had been rather unhappy about. In fact, this unhappiness had changed into undue stress for me now, let me elaborate...

I submitted my application to be release from regular service (aka resign) in mid Oct 08. The department that handles such application sent me an email informing me that they had received my application on 13 Nov 08. They had also stated in their email that they had started the processing. Though with that email, I am not confirmed that I will be leaving the service on the date I had stated in my application (1 Mar 09), it is still pending the approval from the respectives branches in my service. Upon approval, they will send me another email with the confirmation or the notification would come in the form of a posting directive.

Nevertheless, I went for an interview on 5 Dec 08 for my first choice second career, remember in my previous entry sometimes ago, I mentioned this but did not reveal what job it was. My application was for a position with PSA as a Harbour Pilot. The following week after the interview, the few others that went for the interview together with me received email stating that they weren't successful with their application. I did not received this email, and from friends who were already with them, I came to know that I stand a very high chance of securing myself the pilot job. However during the interview, the interviewer did informed me that as I am still in service, my application will not be processed until I provide them with the confirmation letter.

Time passed and I had yet to receive my confirmation, even till this very day. Since the start of Jan 09, I had been very proactive in checking with the respective units on the status of my application. Interestingly, none of them I spoke to was able to give me an answer. Most of them replied me that my application was in process. It was until I checked with my personnel branch that I realised that my application file had been lying in this officer desk since 4 Dec 08. I called my Head Personnel and informed him of the situation. The very next day, on 16 Jan 09, he went down to meet this officer and called me in the late morning informing me that application was with the officer and he had wanted to interview me and offer me with another appointment. At that point of time, I did not even bother to know what he had to offer, but I just thanked him for the offer and rejected whatever offer he was going to offer. Why would I need another offer that will not be able to match what I will be getting as a PSA pilot?

Having rejected the offer, the officer finally approved my application and submitted it to the service Head Personnel. At this point, I would like to stress that the application had been in his office since 4 Dec 08, and it was approved only on the 16 Jan 09. During this period, most senior commanders were busy with workplan planning for the next workyear and was not in office. Nevertheless, my application was approved by my service Head Personnel on 21 Jan 09 (if I remember correctly). Now I need another signature, and thats from DMP, this was because I had been in service for more than 10 years and would need his approval to release a mere 5% of my retirement account fund (It's less than 3K). My appilcation wasn't signed immediately as it was already CNY period and most would be on leave. Hence, I have to wait till the week after CNY's week.

On 2 Feb 09, I called the branch to asked for my application status update again. I got the same reply, "still in process". I told the peron on the other end of the line that this was no laughing matters. I had informed them of my situation, requires the confirmation letter for application of my second career. I even had to speak to her superior and wasted another day as she was not in office that day. Hence on the 3 Feb 09, I called again and was told that my application had been send to MPPD and awaiting submission to DMP. I revert that I need the confirmation letter for my second career again. Thereafter I called PSA and check on my application status or rather to update them of my situation. To my dismay, I was told that due to the market change for the past 2 months, PSA management had ceased all recruitment. Even though my application was before the twist of event, it had been put on hold.

I wrote an email to MPPD informing them that I had lost my job due to the delay in getting my confirmation letter and all they did was apologise. What else can they do anyway... I just felt so unfairly treated and it was because of ONE INCOMPETENT OFFICER that had sat on my application for so long. I called the pers hub and checked with the person I had been calling to checked on others personnel related stuff and told her that I wanted to complain this matter and to blow it out of proportion if need to. I related the entire matters to her and she managed to convince me that my application had been well on time and was considered fast. I had to agree with her to a certain extend but I am still unhappy with my experience. Hence, I told her to write a report to the service Head Personnel to provide my feedback. I would hope that action would be taken and better improve the system so that in future, other personnel would not experience such unduly delay again.

And so now I am officially going to be jobless by the end of Feb 09...

FOREX end-of-week summary 9-13 Feb 09

First day of the week, and I make 300 pips extremely pleased and happy with it. However over the following days, the market didn't move much and I losed quite abit. Members from the forum advised me to stop strading and really find out what's wrong with my system or method of trading that resulted in not having a consistent outcome. I took the advice and stopped trading, reflect and re-learn. I am now a student of School of Pipsology, their lesson start from Pre-School until 14th Grade and progressing into college. Till date I had completed kindergarten class, getting ready for 1st grade. I envisage to complete the entire course by end of next week since I will not be working from Tuesday onward...

In memory of Ah Meng... 7 Feb 09

Participated in the Safari Zoo Run 2009 together with Yingshun, Petrina, Mikaela, Frances and Siling. Yingshun and his family came and pick me up in the afternoon and proceed to the zoo together. When we reached there, it was already very crowded and it was only about 315pm while the flag off time was 4pm, even visiting the loo need to queue for ~20 minutes.

Went over to the start point and asked for some water at the drink station. Interestingly, was told that the drinks are for participants that had completed the run. There wasn't any drinks station at the start point. At 4pm the run started but in wave so as not to make the running route over crowded. Interval between wave was 10 minutes and each wave is only 2 minutes. We waited till the last wave (wave four) before we past the starting line...

The long wait before the start of the run had seriously caused me to lose my running mood, adding on, the in-availability of drinks station at the start point also made me question the organiser ability. Hence, we started walking into Night Safari... it was my first time here at Night Safari.  Though not entirely excited, but I thought it was a good chance to have a good look at this Singapore tourism attraction.

Alas, I didn't get to see any animals in the Night Safari, most if not all of them were still locked up in their cage.  Again this raise my doubt of the organiser ability again.  I thought they should have opened up the cage early for this special day but...  With no animals to see...

Even little Mikaela feels bored and fell asleep... ;p
Took a short cut and went over to the Zoo since there isn't anything much to see in the Safari.

White Tiger... seem to be rather impatient walking up and down those rocks.

Coming soon...

Preview of the new addition to Singapore Zoological Garden ;p

Near the ending point, it started to rain...

Peacock sighted on our way out!

Finishing point

Congratulations... You made it to the finishing... ;p
