Wisdom Teeth Extraction (28 Jan 09)

In preparation for the surgery, I started fasting (no food and drinks) since 12 midnight. I woke up in the morning around 630am and went to Alexander Hospital for the surgery. Reported at Ward 1 Level 1 as directed by the letter sent to me weeks ago. At the registration counter, was told to sign a few documents for claim purposes and then was led to Bed 14, told to change and wait for the surgery.

The nurse then led me to Level 3 for the surgery.  While waiting outside, was asked by 2 nurses and the doctor same questions just to confirm that you are sober. After the questioning, another doctor help me put on the IV.
And ask me whether I have any questions about the surgery.  I asked her what if I wake up in the middle of the extraction? She assured me that there shouldn't be such chance. Went into the OT and the nurses and whatever you call them started working on me.  Not extraction, but the preparatory work. Sticking this and that on your body, was told to breath normally and to relax, I was shivering with cold. Then I heard the doctor to induce the medicine and thats all I remember.  The next moment, I think I felt someone tapping me on my shoulder.  When I open my eyes, I was already in another room. Once I woke up, the nurses pushed me back to Ward 1 Level 1 Bed 14.  The nurses came to check on me every 30 minutes to 1 hour, also to ensure that I had stopped bleeding. While helping me to clean my mouth of those bloody blood, it stain the blanket...

After confirmation a few times that my bleeding had stopped, I was told to change and get ready for discharge.  After changing, the nurse came and check on me again and told me to take a look at the mirror.  Haha... The next moment while looking into the mirror I bleed on the left side again... funny, the nurse was shock and told me to lie down again, clean and asked to wait for 10 minutes. Finally after confirming that bleeding had stop, I went to the registration counter for my next appointment and make payment before leaving the hospital for home.

Celebrating the arrival of the OX

25 Jan 09 - CNY Eve, I went to VivoCity in the afternoon to collect the Acala Disc and Ball from WOFS. I bought it for my dad's birthday but was out of stock so have to wait till now.
The Acala Disc and Ball helps to overcome the illness star in the west in 2009. After the collection, I went to Armani Exchange to look for Lily. Stay with her for awhile, chatting before leaving. Took a bus from VivoCity back to Sengkang Interchange, total time taken was approximately 1 hour. Transfer to bus number 83 and proceed home and get ready for reunion dinner.

Woke up in the afternoon on the first day of CNY. Received my relatives that came to my house for prayer before getting ready to go to some of our relatives' house. Simple day for me this year, nevertheless better then previous years as I had been missing on going to relatives place.

Today (27 Jan 09), woke up in the morning and waited for my friends to come to my house. As usual, every year we will gather at a few of our houses to celebrate CNY together. This year it's my place, Youxing's and Ronghui's place. After late lunch at Ronghui's place, we (Ruilong, Ronghui, Youxing, Yvonne, Frances and me) went to watch the Love Matters at GV Tampines Mall.

"Love Matters" is a movie revolving around three main protagonists - 52-year-old Tan Bo Seng, his 17-year-old teenage son Benny and 36-year-old Jeremy, Bo Seng's 'adopted' brother - and their accidental journey in seeking and keeping love and happiness. Bo Seng (Henry Thia) who leads a routine life attempts to revive the passion with his wife Jia Li (Yeo Yann Yann). Jeremy (Jack Lim) lives a colourful life; with "Never to commit" as his motto for love. Benny (Alex Leong) has just started school life and his only distraction is his crush, Jennifer (Natalli) who is his classmate's girlfriend.

After the movie, we send Ruilong home as he is going to join his friends for clubbing. Ronghui, Frances and I went for our dinner at Simpang Bedok. Since we were still rather full with the late lunch at Ronghui's place, only Frances had her full course of dinner while Ronghui and me had light snack and drinks. After that, it's home sweet home and for me to prepare for my wisdom extraction tomorrow... ;p

FOREX end-of-week update (19-23 Jan 09)

Made another deposit in the begining of the week, bringing the total investment to USD2500. Having participating in the Singapore FOREX Forum, had really helped me learn much and gain more knowledge. Did pretty well this week, I hope that such result remain and continues for me throughout the year. If not, I guess I'm not going to see my USD2500 again. Haha...

FOB Fleet People's Day 23 Jan 09

SayGee pick me up at my place and we went to work together. Again, I'm still on leave, but I'm going but for my Dental Clearance and Pre-Medical Clearance. Reached office and went for breakfast with Barry and Jiasheng. After the breakfast, catch a ride from James to the medical centre for my Dental and Blood test. Walked back to office and cleared some mails. Then I'm all ready for the afternoon event. This Fleet People's Day, we will be visiting SunBeam Place, a children home to do some charity work.

Arrived at the home around 2pm and while waiting for the rest to arrive, I learned balloon sculpturing from Darren. Sucessfully completed making dog, machine gun, sword and flower.

Then we gathered at the main office for photo taking before we were detailed into separate group and start to sweat. Well, some group do not need to sweat though as they were to wrap some gifts and continue with the balloon sculpturing.

Next, Gabriel detailed all of us to our respective station.  John, Jiasheng, Colin and myself would be shifting the washing machine and old television down for disposal. Then we clean up the stairwell which was cover with dust as the staircase was not used often. The hardest part was cleaning the stair well as the ventilation was poor and the dust filled the stair well once we start sweeping. After all the hard work, we presented the vouchers, balloons and gifts to the operation manager.

Another job well done by FOB,
wishing all a happy, healthy and wealthy ox year, mooing your way ahead.

A Master Piece to share

This is a master piece. If you have not read it take the time to read it now. If you have read it take time to read it again! It's so meaningful. Have a nice day.

GEORGE CARLIN, who died recently.

Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate.

A Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have
taller buildings but shorter tempers,
wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints.
We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less.
We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time.
We have more degrees but less sense,
more knowledge, but less judgment,
more experts, yet more problems,
more medicine, but less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much,
and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life.
We've added years to life not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.
We conquered outer space but not inner space.
We've done larger things, but not better things.
We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.
We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.
We write more, but learn less.
We plan more, but accomplish less.
We've learned to rush, but not to wait.
We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever,
but we communicate less and less.
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character,
steep profits and shallow relationships.
These are the days of two incomes but more divorce,
fancier houses, but broken homes.
These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies,
and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.
It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom.
A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...
Remember;
spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.
Remember,
say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.
Remember,
to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.
Remember,
to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it.
A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.
Give time to love, give time to speak!
And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
George Carlin

Fleet People Day @ Bishan Prawn Fishing 21 Jan 09

Though still on leave, I went back to office to complete my report for submission.  Of course, I cleared some mails and check on my application status.  Finally, it had been signed! I would guess that in a few days time I would get what I needed most...

Left office around noon time together with SayGee and Darren.  We went to pack our vegetarian lunch before proceeding to Bishan Prawn Fishing Farm.  Joined in the crowd and prepared for FC arrival before we start the event.  Prawn Fishing, my first time though I dun like to fish because I hate to see the struggle the fishes or prawns goes through when they are out of water and when you remove the hook from them, I hate this cruelty.  Nevertheless, a very nice and fun experience for me today. Truly enjoyed myself chatting and watching people prawning.

Catch of the day... there's more...

Happy with his catch...

4 catch for his first time... ;p

After the event, went to the driving range together with Colin, SayGee and Andrew. I just went for a few balls, been a long time since I touch my golf club and I am not ready to start again.  Hence, I just swing a few balls with SayGee's club. When I am ready to start again, I will make sure I maintain my focus and discipline to have consistency and master the game well.  After the swing, we call it a day and went home.

Stayed home today and I watched the USA Presidential Inauguration on YouTube.  No words to describe, basically his words were so motivating and they really drive into each and everyone heart.  I hereby send him my best regards and wishes for his success... ;p

12-14 Jan 09 Mission to Medan

On my official mission to Medan Indonesia again... This time no pictures since its going to be the same old stuff again... but I do have an interesting tale to tell haha...

On Monday 12 Jan 09, my flight was scheduled in the evening, the commerical SilkAir one. I left home and arrived at the airport 1 hour before departure time, had my dinner at Burger King and went into the departure zone. Went to the entertainment deck sit around and relax, before proceeding to the boarding gate. When I reach there, I was surprise! It was 5 min before departure, and the boarding gate was already close. I try getting the security guard in there to open the gate, he did but refuse my entry. I had to walk over to the transfer counter to report to them. I did so, and was rather angry as I had not heard any annoucement made or my name being called. They told me that no name will be called and annoucement had been made once. Best of all, while I was trying to reason with the guy serving me, the supposedly duty officer serving another customer at the counter next to me interrupted and told me off. That definitely made me blow, but I remain compose and gave them a good one before walking off to make a few calls. When I return the so-called duty officer was not in sight. The guy continued to resolve my issue and get me on the next flight to Medan on the next day evening. What a day!

The following day, when to the airport and reached the boarding gate early, no more room for error haha... board the plane and flew to Medan. Interestingly on the day of the mission, the driver forget about me and did not come to the hotel to pick me up, I had to call the LO before they rush the driver over. A short mission of only an hour and they call it a day. I spend the rest of the day in the hotel sleeping and going for manicure and pedicure...

Oh, still deciding whether to take action against the supposedly duty officer, most probably I will just write in and give them a good one eventually. ;p

SS wedding @ Grand Hyatt 3 Jan 09

Saturday morning, I woke up early despite sleeping only at about 3am the previous night.  It was SS wedding luncheon and he had asked me to be his coordinator for the banquet, so I had to be at the hotel by 11am.  RH called and informed me the time he was coming over to pick me up.  Glad to have such great friends and buddies that will go out of their way to help each other.  Well I did the same when I was driving then... it repay times haha... ;p

Reached the hotel and met up with the manager to tie things up before proceeding to attend the couple marriage certificate signing ceremony.

The newly wed

Getting ready for the 2nd march in...

After the luncheon, I joined RH and RL to walk around Orchard Road, been a long time since I was there to shop... I dun shop often, haha... We walked from Lido to Wheellock Place to Takashimaya to Paragon and back to Wheellock Place before we call it a day.  I brought a bag though...

We were suppose to proceed to Geylang for dinner but CC called for Mahjong and I rush home to change before going over to her place for Mahjong with CC, ST and KG.

Welcome Year 2009!!!

Happy New Year! readers,

It was as a blink of my eyes and yet another year had gone by... Flashing back the entire year to see what I had accomplished and what my resolutions for 2008. Sad to say, I accomplished some and neglected some, but that's life isn't? You gain some and lost some...

There wasn't any New Year Eve celebration for me, maybe just a simple get together if it's consider so. FL called in the morning for mahjong session in the afternoon, it was with WK and GH. During the session, PP called and asked for mahjong in the evening and I told him okay since I have nothing to do. After the afternoon session, I took a MRT to Queenstown and had my dinner before proceeding to PP's house. Waited for MF and oldman to arrive before starting the session. Oldman wasn't really enjoying the game and decided to stop after two rounds. PP called MW and asked whether I wanna join them for twcsg meetup with the usual members. I told him why not and joined him for the meetup. From PP's house, we went to Kallang Mcdonald's and then proceed to Sim Drive coffeeshop. We chatted at the coffeeshop until 5am in the morning, that's was amazing!

And so it's good bye 2008 and hello 2009...

With a new place to stay and a new job soon, or rather jobless soon ;p, a new leash of life will be released and I am moving on with open arms and mind to welcome the challenges set ahead of me in 2009.

Wish everyone a fulfilling year ahead... ;p
