Christmas Day 2008

After returning from the mission, had a mahjong session with PP, PP's friend and MW from twcsg. PP's gamed thirteen wonders and MW lost SGD800 plus, while I won SGD80.

On Chirstmas Day, met up with RL and watch Bedtime Stories.

This is a family comedy about a harried real estate developer, Skeeter Bronson (Adam Sandler), whose life changes when the lavish and imaginative bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew are somehow beginning to manifest themselves in the real world.

The movie was pretty funny but I felt the ending wasn't well done, could have done more.  Anyway after the movie had another mahjong session with PP, MF and oldman.  Wasn't doing well and after three rounds, almost ending the game, I was down SGD200. On the final hand, I gamed a nine double and not only recovered what I had lost, I won SGD190.  Lucky Christmas, haha... ;p

Yet another Mission to Batam (24 Dec 08)

Another Eyes in the Sky Mission...

I woke up early on Christmas Eve and set out from my new home for HarbourFront.  It was raining and I just have a bad feeling that the rain would continues even when I reach Batam.  True enough, it was still raining when I reach Batam.  The mission had to be delayed due to the bad weather.

The aircraft for the mission, CN-235 had already arrived in the Hang Nadim Airport when we arrived. We chatted and waited for the weather to clear. Due to some constraint of the aircraft, the cut-off time was 1200G (Indonesia Local Time).  However at around 1130G, the weather cleared and we took off for our mission, a very short one.

We were provided by a set of life jacket and ear muffle.

After we took off, these were what visible to us, hence the mission commander called off the mission and return back to Hang Nadim Airport. As I had said earlier, an extremely short mission, it only lasted 30 minutes. Once we touched down, the driver send us back to the Batam Centre and I took the next earliest ferry available back to Singapore.

39th Mids Mini gathering (23 Dec 08)

Arranged by PJ to have some sort of a drinking session on Tuesday.  SF got the place and a few of us met at the restaurant / pub called Red Dot Brewhouse.

25A Dempsey Road
IC, DL, SF and wife ZS were there when I arrived.  While waiting for the rest, we chat about how's life been for each another.  Most of us had already left service, so we provided some updates as well as getting to know about the market "out there".  PJ came with his wife and daughter followed by LH.  We had our dinner and drinks while continuing to catch up with each other.

Monster Green Beer

Grilled Pork Rack
Fish & Chips

Banana Tiramisu
We continued chatting after the dinner.  As it was getting late, we left the place and continue with our journey home.

Shifting into the new place (21 Dec 08)

Sunday morning, I woke up early and got ready to shift into my new place in Punggol Drive. Someone told me it's a 200m North shifted. ;p Oh well, we downgraded to a 4-rooms flat actually. Had been packing and throwing stuffs for the past few days in preparation for the shift. Still, I realised I have alot of stuff to bring over despite being heartless and threw alot of stuff including personal belonging and letters as well as cards. Well...
So we started the shift at 10am, with my uncle's friend who drove a lorry. We made plenty trips, I think about five to six, lost count already haha... Nevertheless, we manage to shift everything over by late afternoon. And guess what? After the shift it started to rain... what a blessing! Once into the new place, I started unpacking to operationalise my new room. My relatives also came over to help out and to see see look look. I think more to see see look look then helping out haha... I was surprised by my work rate then I was able to go out and meet RH and RL for movie - Ip Man

Adapted from the life story of Ip Man - the grand master of the Wing Chun style of kung fu and sifu of legendary kung fu superstar Bruce Lee. This movie will be the first important record of the master's life. Ip's persistent devotion to Wing Chun is a classic example of the love and respect shown to wushu and the freedom and spirit it represents. Ip Man is a concept, a spirit, a way of thinking - and it exemplifies a new peak in Hong Kong's wushu movies.

YS & RH Birthday Celebration (20 Dec 08)

YS and RH birthdays are on the way and hence PO arranged to have a celebration for the two of them on saturday evening. Dinner at Yuki Yaki Japanese Restaurant in Marina Square.  I had my last tour of duty in Whiskey Tower in the morning and rush over to join them for the dinner after handing over.

YX, YY, JQ, PO, MO, YS and RH were at Starbucks when I arrived.  As the restaurant does not take reservation they had to join in the queue and wait for table to be available. We started the dinner only at 8pm. Business seemed to be very good for the restaurant.
Before we started...

Let's start cooking and fill our tummy...

Half your through our dinner, on separate table as they dun have a big enough table to accommodate all of us, JL joined us.  Surprised that he joined us as he was always busy with his work, busy man indeed...

The birthday boys... hmm... man actually... ;p

Daddy to be, YX and mummy to be YY, baby coming in 2009...

Guess which is the surprise guest here? Obvious isn't it? ;p Oh and guess what, YS also informed all that MO is going to be a elder sister next year. PO is expecting their second child... fifth weeks already ;p

After the dinner, we went over to Esplanade for dessert @ HagenDaz. Again need to queue for table, but luckily it only take awhile.

FOREX end-of-week Summary (15-19 Dec 08)

Made many losses during early part of the week. Finally had to make another deposit in mid week of USD250, bringing the total investment to USD 2250. Thereafter made some profits as well as loses, also received message from FX1 to take a break during the last 2 weeks of December as most of the fund managers worldwide are taking a break to enjoy the holidays season. As such liquidity of the market will slow down, hence not very good for trading.  Nevertheless, I continued trading when I see the trend there.  Seriously, this should continues even come Jan 09.

Mission to Medan (14-15 Dec 08)

Time for mission to Medan. Indonesia again, however this mission is different from the rest as it's only one day. Normally to Medan or Batam, it's a two days mission.  Nevertheless, I took a flight at 725pm departing from Terminal 2, Changi International Airport. HL had to come to the Airport with his whole family to pass me the HP for the mission, haha...
Arrived at Airport and called the hotel for pick up.  Shortly the van from the hotel arrived and fetch me to the Hotel.  Welcome to Hotel Polonia...

Had an early night rest after making a few phone calls to arrange for the mission tomorrow. Completed my mission on the second day at around 12pm local time.  My return flight was scheduled at 830pm, hence I had almost 8 hours to myself. When to M City for Spa and Massage, the place was newly set up I guess, everything look new and clean.  The massage was good. Then I went for Pedicure at Lady Q, just behind the hotel before coming back to the hotel for my hair wash.

Been a long long time ago since we last saw this type of saloon chair here in Singapore. After the hair wash, time for dinner...
Lobby cafe at Hotel Polonia for my dinner

Sorry, the Polonia Chicken Rice look and smell good, the moment it landed on my table, it was attacked... This is what was left after the battle... ;p After the dinner, I sat at the lounge and charge my iPhone before arranging for the transport to send me to the airport...

The waiting room and the way passengers were brought to their respective aircraft.

Farewell Dinner 12 Dec 08

My office had a re-org on Thursday and Friday, to better manage and create capacity in view of the number of people leaving the office. It was some what fruitful, I hope seriously. Nevertheless the discussion ended on Friday late morning and half day routine was declared.  Went back to the office and cleared my mails leaving the office at 1pm. Went back home and took a nap, woke up late and had to catch a cab to the Link Hotel for the farewell dinner.
Still I managed to reached the hotel slightly after 630pm, the start time. Quite a few guys had yet to arrived so we waited for them to come. Dinner was good, with various type of Japanese dishes. Check the pictures...

After everyone had eaten to their fill, its time for the farewell proper.  Getting everyone to talk about the person who is leaving, followed by the appreciation "speech" from the person.  Tonight, it's JL and CH.

And of course not forgetting their farewell gifts...
